Woodpecker, Woodland Glade.

Woodpecker is part of the additional woodland we acquired in June 2014. The glade itself was subsequently commissioned in 2017 with the clearance of choking weeds and thickets starting soon after - an essential job to help the new trees get established, remove species that had succumbed to disease and encourage the return of woodland plants.

The clearance revealed a diverse selection of native tree species which we have been nurturing ever since. They look well established already and will make a fitting contribution to a mature and ancient woodland of the future.

Access is via the Woodland Road. Just follow it to the end and it is the last glade on your right.

The site was consecrated in June 2014 with the glade being subsequently commissioned in 2017. It took time to clear the dense undergrowth and prepare the glade. By 2018 the ground work had been completed and in 2019 the glade was fully established and ready to open. It reached full capacity in 2022 and was closed accordingly.

The glade is closed having reached capacity during 2022.

The site nestles within 60 acres of managed woodland and mainly comprises Poplar trees at its entrance leading to a glorious glade surrounded by native trees such as Oak.

The glade will continue to take on a traditional woodland feel. In the meantime it offers a sanctuary for many different woodland plants and animals which are actively encouraged through good husbandry of the land. Deer and squirrels are just a few of the regular inhabitants.
