Skylark Rill

Skylark Rill is adjacent to our oldest glade, Skylark. The Rill is part of the additional woodland we acquired in June 2014. It was subsequently commissioned in 2017 and offers a tranquil resting places for the ashes of loved ones.

Access is from Woodland Road - just follow the gravel road to the end and you will see it on the left hand side. Its location offers good access to those less mobile although gravel and wet soil can still pose a challenge to all of us at times.

The site was consecrated in June 2014 with the glade being subsequently commissioned in late 2017. The groundwork was completed and the Rill started taking its first occupants in early 2018. The glade was closed in 2022 once it reached capacity.

The glade is now closed having reached full capacity in 2022.

The site nestles within 60 acres of managed woodland and mainly comprises Poplar trees. The trees have now achieved an impressive level of maturity. The silvery green foliage and rustling leaves give the Rill a unique character.

Over the passage of time other native trees will be introduced such as Oak etc and the rill will take on a traditional woodland feel. In the meantime it offers a sanctuary for many different woodland plants and animals which are actively encouraged through good husbandry of the land.
